About

SteelHorn Film Festivals is the festival program of SteelHorn Foundation, Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The Foundation runs three film festivals - Swan Lake in Sumter, South Carolina; Moonless International in Franklin, Tennessee; and Romans VIII in San Antonio, Texas - each with its own character and audience, all built on the same conviction: a festival should be run by people who make films, and every entry deserves to be read or watched in full.

How the three fit together

• Swan Lake Film Festival - the flagship weekend. Genre-driven programming, screenplay and stage play competitions, and the Sentinel, Visionary and Centennial Awards.
• Moonless International Film Festival - international in scope, with a 2027 special edition in Franklin, TN.
• Romans VIII Film Festival - faith-and-family storytelling, moving to San Antonio in 2027.

A script or film may place at only one SteelHorn festival. Where a submission fits more than one, our judges route it to the festival where it belongs.

Leadership

The festivals are led by Wayne D. Burdette Jr., Executive Director of the Swan Lake Film Festival and an award-winning cinematographer, writer and producer with more than 40 IMDb credits. [Team / board members]
